Blog Advertising

Seriously, I honestly starting feeling to think that these ad space is cramping my style and do my blog no good. I don’t earn as much for now anyways. Even if I really do, I don’t really like that blinking ad at the side of my page, which I never have anyways. It uglifies my sidebar. Oh, not forgetting slows down the loading of my page. Hmph.

No disrespect for the rest who does and blog advertisers. Kudos to those who appreciates the business of blogging and making money or just for the fun of it, but for me, it’s beginning to look pretentious. I don’t wanna have to think that I write to make money, because it has never been that way. It was more of the idea of getting heard that matters the most. So what if I don’t have a job at the moment, for the past 4 months, so anyone nice enough to hire me, please hollaback. Ahem. My point is, blogging has lost its essence, for what I have seen. Like I said before, people are taking blogging too seriously, that unfortunately I don’t dare to share my personal thoughts in here anymore, because you readers are taking an individual’s words too seriously. You give us shit when you’re unhappy about something we write, when ironically, you’re doing it too.

Wow, this is like an extension of my previous entry.

Basically I just don’t think it’s pretty enough for my blog concept. Money-minded, I am, but not through blogging. I’m probably digging my own grave now, but who cares but myself. I’m just trying to keep you grounded, I think. Which is why I am ad-free now! Yahooooooo!

Hmm. How whiny and aimless of me.

Crap! This is good shit!

I rarely blog hop, but I clicked on Suffian (boss)’s year end emo thank you list and came across this awesome blog, www.craplicious.com

This dude is hilarious and he speaks the truth. I am green with envy. I guess in a way, I’d like to see myself blog this way, but I don’t because I have gotten over the idea of blogging like someone else. I may have been a different type of blogger, say, compare to 5 years ago. I keep a private blog where I whine and bitch about everything possible. This becomes a magazine-like blog for me to introduce you to things I think are noteworthy and basically, giving them props and publicity, really.

Craplicious is the definition of an honest blog, and I am not saying the rest of you bloggers aren’t. He is in a league of his own, and yes I just quoted you, boss. His sarcasms are of no pretense, which is rare in our lives these days. And now I am ranting on, not knowing what I am talking about, but in all good intentions to say nice things about the site and I should stop now.

To each is his own, and I love Craplicious! I think I have just found my blogsite of the year! We should do lunch, whoever you are. You my idol, for now. Unless you turn out to be someone I dislike or someone that has gotten on the wrong path, then I’d just pretend I got a stomach ache and leave you.

Ah. So much love. okg0!

Remembering Color Me Badd

Remember Color Me Badd? Remember ‘Sexual Capacity’? This was my jam, and it still is. It is no doubt a great track. People named them a boyband. I called them a R&B group. These boys had soul, whatever it is you may think of them, well, sorta like what we thought of 98 Degrees. The term ‘boyband’ is used too loosely, that it’s degrading for some groups who just wants to be known as a singing group. Color Me Badd is no boyband you bitches. I’m defending Color Me Badd on a Saturday night. Joy.

I was scrolling through my iTunes and thought I’d listen to something I haven’t for a long time and ‘Sexual Healing’ came to mind, and I had to try and find the music video on YouTube because I have no recollection of it. To my surprise, it showed clips of Demi Moore’s ‘Striptease‘ movie. Damn son, I didn’t know it was in the soundtrack.

Anyways, this song was written by Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, Sean “Sep” Hall and Rob Thicke, produced by them as well. Rob Thicke. Sounds familiar? Yup, it was the falsetto king himself, Robin Thicke and for some reason he was Rob then. Damn son. That’s a trivia for you there.

I mean, these boys were big, back then. Come on now, who hasn’t heard of ‘I Wanna Sex You Up‘, ‘I Adore Mi Amore‘ and ‘All 4 Love‘? You be trippin’ if you didn’t. I also remembered them on the famous TV series, Beverly Hills, 90210’s soundtrack with their song called ‘Got 2 Have U’, and yes I have that soundtrack CD. They actually made a cameo appearance on the show’s ‘Things To Do On A Rainy Day’ episode in Peach Pit!

I was such a fan of them at that point of time, I actually bought their Now and Forever album this year, and it was on eBay. Holla. Their last big hit from them was from that 1994 release with ‘The Earth, The Sun, The Rain’, which I remember them coming to KL to promote that 3rd studio album, which was on aired on TV3. Yes I am a music geek. They returned in 1998 with Awakening, but it failed. I can’t remember anything from it, but I’d buy it if I see it definitely.

Strange how you start appreciating things when it’s over huh. I wish I was back in the 90’s where they make good R&B songs. I can still remember those goosebumps I get hearing a new track released. Now it’s all those Timbaland-bounce which is getting really boring.

‘Sexual Capacity’ was and is still the shit. I miss Color Me Badd. Damn son. I gotta get his ‘damn son’ out of my system. I blame Wan for this, for I shall punish you with making you listen to Color Me Badd for 10 times in a row. Muahahahahaha!

I Bought Siti’s Album!

Surprising isn’t it? Not really. For those who really know my big CD collection, which is rare, will know this is a possibility. It’s no surprise I bought this after watching Muzik Muzik and the fact that Ili has been feeding with awesome emo Malay tracks, this was a default mode for me.

Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza. Damn she has come a long way and has been and always will be Malaysia’s Pop Princess, whether you like it to not, she is our country’s music royalty. This woman is pretty phenomenal with her success, though she has been pretty quite lately, making ways for the newer generation, though she still takes the crowd in award shows. It’s like putting Mariah or Whitney in an award show, and knowing they will win.

My first memory of her was definitely her first single, ‘Jerat Percintaan’ which I was a big fan of that time. Also that very popular, bu now-sounds-awful song, ‘Kau Mawarku’ with now-thankfully-defunct group, 2 By 2. She was sweet and her voice was powerful. Even as a new artiste back then, she already had that star quality from day one, no one doubted she will make it big, and big is what she is now.

Of course there came that time when she was topping all charts, showing up on every show, on the cover of all the magazines, every channel on TV and winning every nomination. It was an overdosed of Siti, like how Amber Chia was ruling our life so much we wanted to hurl. People were wondering if Siti was working too hard and does she even rest? As annoying as her presence was, you can’t help but to take notice.

I always thought to myself. So yeah, she’s probably the most successful female Malaysian singer ever, but why were her album covers and music videos back then were so bad. She was local to her record label, Suria, which was awesome. Of course, I think Siti brought the label’s name to a higher level and things are looking much better for her. The new album cover and inlay are awesome. She was the epitome of a perfect sweet Malaysian woman. Yes, she definitely plays a big part as a role model to a lot of girls.

This is the first time I have purchased her album, and I did not hesitate when I saw it on the racks. I’ve always wanted to own a Siti Nurhaliza album, but did not have the courage to buy it. I am glad I got it. This new release, Hadiah Daripada Hati is a beautiful album. I’m so impressed, I wanna go get her previous albums! It’s a typical Malay album, mind you. It’s the selection of songs and story that makes it come together as a great package. Good job, Siti.

I’ve seen Siti twice, and both times in KLCC over the years. First time was in Topshop as I was with accompanying a girl friend, she was like 5 steps away from me. She saw me looking at her and I look away, because back then I didn’t like people know that I am staring at them. I want to beat that side of me up, because I should have smiled at her or shook her hand. I was a fanboy. After that, it was early this year when I was waiting for the lift to go back down from 4th floor, there were this group of people including security guards behind me, and I had no idea what was going on. I went in the lift, and they followed in. I look to the other corner, damn. It’s Siti. No wonder she needed the escort. It seemed like a family outing. But wow, I was star-strucked back then as well.

Siti is an internationally-known Diva with good manners. I give muchos respect to her and I am a fan again, unfortunately, even though she can’t pronounce ‘Vogue’ or misunderstood the question ‘How do I address you?’ and answered ‘Taman Tasik Titiwangsa’. Will someone please clear that up for me if that is true because it’s pretty hilarious. I let the bitchy things I’ve heard about her go too because hell, who ain’t a bitch anyways.

I don’t wanna talk about her marriage because it’s what it is, even though I find it hard to believe it’s true love. I’d expect to have a ‘younger’ taste. Probably the young ones won’t understand her life, and this was the best way. Whatever, I just talked about it. Damn it.

Siti, if you’re reading this, “Hai Siti! Apa khabar? Best album baru!”

Reminiscing Muzik Muzik
December 27, 2007, 10:38 am

Muzik Muzik has been around for almost 20 years. It’s one of the leading TV chart show for local Malaysian Malay music. I have been watching it for a long time, on and off. I remember I started in school when I started hanging out with more Malay friends and they introduced me to stuff like KRU, Feminin, Ning Baizura, M. Nasir, Ziana Zain, Wings, Nico, etc. The list was pretty embarrassing, but I slowly adapt into the ones I like. I buy URTV, Media Hiburan and reads Berita Harian to find news on my favourite artistes and what’s going on with them. Internet cafes were expensive to visit and it was rare too, I had to buy those sources. Evenings I’d watch Muzik Muzik, at night I’d catch Hiburan Minggu Ini. I’d look forward to Juara Lagu and Anugerah Industri Muzik every year.

Oh yeah, I’d buy Berita Harian to see who’s on the chart for Muzik Muzik and sometimes I’d vote via snail mail. Back then, I had no idea what was going on. I knew I was going on a ‘discovery’ moment, but didn’t go deep into it and just enjoy the moment. Anyways, following the chart show was crucial. I remember watching Ziana Zain being the reigning queen until the arrival of Siti Nurhaliza and taking over the charts like nobody’s business. I was pissed. Then slowly, after that crash course of local Malay music, I found the beauty of R&B and Hip Hop. I was universal after that. Well, almost.

What I’m trying to say is, wow, Muzik Muzik has grown so much. Watching the ’special’ today was not the best example because there isn’t a chart show leading to the year end. I tuned in to watch Imran Ajmain and Hujan performing on the show. Imran’s a Singapore import and Hujan is massive in the indie scene. Having to know Imran and Noh of Hujan before this debut and seeing them… quite surreal.

I was actually overjoyed to have seen Imran and Hujan performing on Muzik Muzik a few minutes ago. Damn. It’s almost a reality check, they are famous. And it’s slowly hitting me. Congrats boys. I cheered in front of my TV recognising Hujan’s ‘Pagi Yang Gelap’! Noh’s hair is perfect as usual, but I’m not used to seeing his serious stage face, but he is still awesome. Too bad the crowd isn’t that involved and I can see someone sleeping while Hujan was performing. Ispenz TV3, cover up a bit can or not. I’m a new bias fan. Hi Noh!

And damn it’s the 22nd Juara Lagu this year! 22nd! Wow.

Support your local music. Buy original. Fo’real.
