Yes, they are all the early part of the show. I didn’t stay on to watch Rick Price and James Morrison perform on stage, because Dayang Nurfaizah was all I wanted for the night. I’ll have my Live & Loud KL review in a bundle, when I’m over and done with it.

A Bedtime Story

I asked a question in Facebook, and it was, “If you are allowed to only listen to one album in your entire lifetime, what album would that be?” Ethan replied recently with this album, Madonna’s Bedtime Stories because it’s sex, sex, sex. I totally agreed and got me into listening to this album again now, also making it one of the best albums ever recorded, in my opinion.

Let’s step back in time, just a little.

Honestly speaking, I am not Madonna’s biggest fan, but she has scored some great moments with me, like this Bedtime Stories album for instance. I remember my friend lend me this cassette to listen to in school and was absolutely in love with it. Madonna was doing Dallas Austin, Nellee Hooper, Babyface and Björk? Now, that’s impressive. I was also big fans of the songwriters and producers at that time, so it was a big plus point.

The album photography were shot by Patrick Demarchelier in 1994. It was her post-Erotica, Marilyn Monroe era. It worked, knowing how revolutionary she was. They were such tease, and classy at the same time. Thick blue eye shadow were prominent with this R&B Madonna era.

‘Bedtime Story’ was co-written by Björk and it is my favourite on the album, with it’s haunting sound when combined with the talented Nellee Hooper. It’s probably my favourite Madonna track ever. She created a historical music moment when she performed the Junior Vasquez remix of that single at the Brit Awards 1995 with a very long blonde weave and Versace dress, looking like Lady Godiva, with 2 male dancers behind her. It was oh so artistic and amazing. Check out the video here.

Other standout tracks in the album is the cheeky ‘Human Nature’ that had her saying, “Did I say something wrong? Oops, I didn’t know I couldn’t talk about sex”. There’s also that sexy ‘Inside Of Me’ that screams sex sex sex. Even Me’Shell NdegeOcello made appearance on ‘I’d Rather Be Your Love’.

The single that took off for this album was the beautiful Babyface-written and produced track, ‘Take A Bow’ which hit the charts all over the world. It became a love anthem of all love-themed compilation albums.

It’s amazing how everything gels so well in this production, it’s almost flawless. For me, this is one of the amazing non-skip album, where you are able to listen to every single track, every second, without hitting the ‘Next’ button. Critics were worried with this R&B move, but musically speaking, it worked for her, but it was overlooked on how classy this album is.

Basically it is sensual, sexy Madonna, without looking sexed up.

1994/1995 are my favourite Madonna moments with this Bedtime Stories album. It’s going down in history as one of my best albums ever. I wanna present an award to her with this effort, damn it.

“Let’s get unconscious honey.”

Malaysian Othello

There is a new upcoming Malaysian film called ‘Jarum Halus’ (direct translation is thin needle), based on William Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’. This trailer is so not impressive. Maybe the film would be good, so hope it proves me wrong again.

Having that Christien New as the lead actor…

Erm, just go to his site and review it yourself. There are even some ridiculous ‘Top Blog’ competition section which I just roll my eyes at. Can’t stand the wife either. The blog/website screams narcissism to the max?

Oh in his Chatbox, he actually typed
“Christien New: i am an actor lah, apalah”

LOL!

Here’s that bad trailer. Sorry Mark Tan.

Eh, there’s even a blog for it. *whistles and hop away*

Mary Is Just Fine

That was Mary J. Blige performing ‘Just Fine’ at the American Music Awards 2007 earlier today, KL time. This track did not get the airplay it should in KL, but here I am promoting to you. I was doubting this happy side of Mary before, but I shall spit that and give her some cred for the effort. The track was produced by Jazze Pha and Tricky Stewart and co-written by Mary and The-Dream.

‘Just Fine’ according to Mary:
“That song was written based on me having a good day,” Blige explained. “You know, I can have 30 or 40 bad days. I can have as many bad days as anyone. But I choose to say, ‘I’m just fine.’ Right now. You know those days when your hair looks good, you’re not sitting in traffic, your man’s not acting like an idiot. You’re just fine. So it’s OK to have those days. So instead of coming with something ungrateful to the universe, how about I come with something first that’s says, ‘You know what? It’s OK. Enjoy this day if you’re having a great day.’ “

This is the original video for ‘Just Fine’.

Mary is back and better than ever!
And damn girl, you’re looking good.

Mary’s 8th studio release, Growing Pains will be released on December 18th.

New Malaysian Music

I can’t wait for the King of Malaysia (KOMY), Altimet’s album to drop! Go check out some of the new tracks here to preview what he has in store for you. Even has the very soulful and talented Najwa on ‘Just Because’. Probably one of the most anticipated local rap albums to be released. He’s just being a tease, for now.

And then…

Two time Anugerah Planet Muzik 2007 winner, Imran Ajmain will be crossing the borders from Singapore to Malaysia, taking over the music scene by storm with the re-release of Dengan Secara Kebetulan. Check out his new uploaded song, ‘Abang’, here. It’s been on rotation from my side for hours.

Now, can I get some love for Najwa to release her album?!! Last thing I want to see is a TALENT go to waste. Just listen to her voice. Listen. Jill Scott? Angie Stone? Amel Larrieux? Yes she may resemble those soul ladies, but yo, she’s our own homegrown talent. Can I stress how talented she is again? OH MY GOD.

I can’t stop talking about Najwa.
Don’t ever stop singing, girl.
