State Of Mine

I ain’t a big fan of caps, but I think the State Of Mine caps by Kartell Records are brilliant. Nothing like a cap saying something familiar to us. Joe’s right, tak kan always wear NY or whatever else when you have no idea about it. KL, represent.

These are new editions, with gold. Ooo. Flossy flossy.

Though I would more rather have a sit down with Joe and know what is up with Too Phat, especially Malique. Is there even a future for more Too Phat?

Pavilion

Finally stepped into Pavilion for the first time today. I walked from KLCC, and it’s pretty decent, except the fact that I sweat like a pig. I entered from the side that looked like The Curve, outdoor and still under construction- so not classy. But as I made my steps into the mall, I was like WOAH. I knew I was gonna get lost. It looked amazing…

Went and look for the washroom first to check how I look, and it’s clean. Good. It’s a good mall. I walked slowly and see so many nice shops and 2 floors of Topshop and Club Monaco? What else?? But sure damn kau lan expensive la. Definitely won’t find me shopping there, so find me in Sungai Wang ok? Even the food places there looks expensive. And the only time I go Pavilion, Jco Donut line already like cock. I’ll try tomorrow, but tough luck I think. Will I ever try a Jco donut?

Despite the major construction going on at certain areas of the mall, I am absolutely impressed. I actually felt like I was in Singapore or Bangkok. Very high-end, beautifully done. I had a proud moment when Sarchan and Didi came save me from being lost in the mall.

Pavilion 100x better than Gardens.

Confused Highlight?

B4C came on after Shapeshifters at GlobalGathering? And C doesn’t want to go before them, even when asked? Sigh. I know la if you got a good spot, then you are happy, but… Shapeshifters are the highlight and they are international. And well-known. And most people are anticipating for them, so they have more credibility to close the show.

I’m just annoyed with how they could not place Shapeshifters to be the last finale act in the beginning actually. I know 2 of the B4C members, I ain’t hating and not saying Malaysians can’t close a show, but it’s just weird how things work out.

Oh well. Moving along swiftly…

Muddy Gathering

(stolen from Mira’s Facebook)

How fucking wonderful. GlobalGathering in the mud. Mixed reviews, this event. Some don’t really care about the mud, and some just think it’s really bad and dark. One friend stepped on cow shit. Some friends got molested in the foam. Bad bad bad.

I wasn’t there to witness all these, so I won’t write much about it. From the looks of the pictures I see in Facebook, it didn’t look fun. Glad I wasn’t there though, I don’t wanna dirty my shoes. Hohoho.

Did you have fun?

Mary Is Happy Now

I am still dealing with the fact that Mary J. Blige is happy now, and I mean music-wise. I miss her heart-wrenching songs like ‘My Life’, ‘Not Gon’ Cry’ and ‘Seven Days’. Times where she was still on drugs and acted oh so shady and hip hop. Go YouTube this Queen of Hip Hop & Soul and see how much she has changed since her What’s The 411? era.

Her latest single off her new upcoming album, Growing Pains, is called ‘Just Fine’ is sunny and optimistic. The track is produced by Jazze Pha and Tricky Stewart, and I have plenty of things to not be happy with it.

Happy Mary is hard for me to deal with. Probably I should be happy with my life, but I’m just so used to her being all ghetto and even when she was being positive, it was just a song, and it wasn’t her. Her voice captured pain, and now she embraced the joy of being a woman, married and successful.

Ok fine, I have finally, yesterday in fact, got to feel ‘Be Without You’ after all these time. She still sounds MJB, but happy tunes from her is gonna take a whole lot for me to swallow, but I admit to receiving it slowly. I’ve been listening to ‘The Breakthrough’ a lot lately, trying to stay positive. I’m definitely growing with Mary.

This is undoubtedly a one in a million. She’s my favourite female singer of all time. Right next to my new ‘rapture’, Anita Baker. I’ll explain later.

Go Mary!

Watch her latest video, ‘Just Fine’.

Black Eyed Peas Is My Favourite Hip Hop Act

They are not hip hop (no more)! The Black Eyed Peas are a pop group now! Yes, they are pop, but how to make you understand anyways. They are a sell-out, switching good rap music for pop as soon as they got the female member.

You people are getting excited about their Genting concert the other day and actually refer to them as Black Eye Peas. ‘Nuff said.

For the real hip hop fans, we gave respect to the BEP way before Fergie Ferg, former member of female pop trio Wild Orchid, joined the group, for commercialism. Now they are so pop driven that listeners wouldn’t know the real Peas.

This is the problem. Acts who are underdogs crave for the attention, hence they decide to kill their real hopes and dreams of keeping it real, and trade it for a spot in the Hot 100 and radio overkill.

Props to them for the success and money. They will always be Top 40 to me already. And big up to Fergie and will.i.am for their respective success too.

I do enjoy me some Fergie.

How To Introduce Yourself

Dear TV people and models.

I meet a lot of you at events and parties. And it’s great eye candy and sometimes even a star-striking moment for me. But when you I don’t know you and you answer in these ways:

“I’m a model.”
“I was a Miss Malaysia contestant.”
“I’m an actress.”

…Oh no no no. And yes, I don’t cover line my reaction when you say that to me, because it’s just so funny how modest about your job. I know it is your job, but honestly, it’s hilarious. Learn to say these first:

“I’m a talent.”
“I work for TV.”

That sorta things. Then ease us into the show or whatever. Don’t be so brutally honest with your famous career. It makes me laugh and look at you like a stupid moose.

Learn ok, bitches and hoes? Kthxbye.

Love,
Kevin Yeoh

Spoonful Of Goodie?

You how how these launches and events are these days? Serving little drops of food in spoons and small portions. Damn, so not fun! Where is the mashed potato? Fries? Nuggets? Cakes? Soup? Ramlee burger? Satay? Nasi lemak? OMG I am hungry and I crave for everything. But you know, it’d be so interesting if they allow these food being served in events. I know it looks cheap, which it is, but it’s so nice. Real typical Malaysian food. Imagine this- It’s a Moet & Chandon event with someone frying char kuey teow, a mamak flipping roti canais, and ais kacang stall at the side. Tasty isn’t it?

Too bad we are all so caught up with sophistications we forgot the beauty of easy food. Maybe that’s because I have no etiquette with fine dining and expensive food. I only tried foie gras this year! And the only steak I tried are from my sister’s plate early this year at Chilli’s.

I’m learning. Hahaha, yeah right! I don’t even know how to tell the different types of wine. I am just so ghetto. Give me a spoon and I can eat everything with it.

OMG I Am Missing The Biggest Party Of The Year?!

I don’t care about Recharge Revelation: GlobalGathering Malaysia 2007, really. But I can’t help it when everyone’s asking if I am going and when I say no, they’d be like, “WHY?? Eh you’re missing out the biggest party of the year!!”, “You can stay with me!!”, “Eh got SMD la!!”, etc.

Honestly, I don’t give a flying fuck. I have lost the excitement for outdoor event like that. If it was Rainforest World Music Festival, I’m still fine with it. Maybe I am just getting old without realising. Ho hum. Probably because I don’t do drugs anymore, that these parties are not so fun for me as compared to 3 or 4 years back.

Please people, it’s not the end of the world if I miss a party. Yes, even if it’s the biggest. It can still go on without me. I think the biggest turnoff for me is the fact that I will be with millions of people and I am not in the mood for that at the moment. I’ll stay in KL and paint the town red, erm, somehow.

So to everyone who’s going. Have fun and drive safe!
Cheers to Simian Mobile Disco! :)

Miss Jackson If You’re Nasty

Now this is classic Janet Jackson moment. The controversial explicit photoshoot for the janet. album cover with then-boyfriend René Elizondo, cupping her breasts. This album spawned hits after hits, and critics were calling this the album reminiscing a Marvin Gaye release. At least people looked beyond the sexy album cover.

In July 1993, Janet made her big-screen debut in the John Singleton directed, ‘Poetic Justice’ and , which Tupac Shakur also acted in. ‘Again’ was featured on the film’s soundtrack, and garnered a Golden Globe Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song From A Motion Picture.

I remember how easy and smooth ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’ was and it was the only thing I wanted to listen to for the longest time, and until today, it hasn’t lost it’s sparks. Even the music video is undeniably one of the most original concept ever produced. You know, that video where Jennifer Lopez made her big debut as a dancer?

janet. is a sexually powerful album, after her Rhythm Nation 1814 release. Janet was now a real empowering woman. Everyone was watching and listening. She became a top female artiste and she was a sex symbol.

Her collaborations with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis could not go wrong. With continued hits such as ‘You Want This’, ‘If’, ‘Any Time, Any Place’, ‘Because Of Love’, and then a new hidden track to the album from a re-release, ‘Whoops Now’. The album did so well they even released a janet. Remixed CD, which didn’t do so well.

Overall, this was huge for her. She hasn’t really done better with the next releases. So fine, The Velvet Rope did hit some charts, but no awards. All For You was confusingly sweet. Did she stop writing positive messages and just wanna sex it up in every track?

Now she tries hard and her 20 Y.O. sucked big time. Let’s not forget her Damita Jo which is quite excusable, seeing that I quite fancy a few tracks in there. Can she just get married to Jermaine Dupri and just relax? Stop wasting money on weak music. Seriously, Janet’s should stop.

Goddamn this is album is sexy.
